Meals on Wheels has been improving the quality of life for aging Rockland County residents for more than four decades. Our Home Delivered Meals program provides fresh, nutritious food designed to cater to the dietary needs of older adults. Caring volunteers deliver more than just a meal - their daily visits provide a vital safety check and friendly conversation that reduces loneliness and isolation. Our Senior Activity Centers provide a “home away from home” where participants develop important friendships and enjoy a host of activities with a specific focus on health and wellness. Door to door transportation to and from our centers is available throughout the county.

At Meals on Wheels, we strive to provide a continuum of care aimed at enhancing the overall wellness of older adults and their families. Meals truly are just our first course!

Dear Friends,
As 2023 comes to an end, on behalf of Meals on Wheels Rockland, I’d like to wish you and your family Happy Holidays and all the best for a healthy New Year!
It is because of community members like you that Seniors across the county were able to have a good year in 2023. A good year for our meal recipients means maintaining or regaining their safety, independence and health. And, it was a good year for us, which means we were able to feed and serve over 1100 homebound Rockland County older adults in need of support, nutrition and compassion.
Older adults living with food insecurity are more likely to experience malnutrition, depression and physical limitations that affect how they live. With 1 in 14 American Seniors being food insecure, we are ever mindful that our Senior neighbors need assistance to get the nutrition they need to be well and safe. What Meals on Wheels Rockland additionally provides with the Volunteer’s knock on the door to a homebound senior, is often the arrival of the only person they might see all day or all week long. It brings hope. It brings health. It brings the nutrition and care that will completely make their day.
A knock from Meals on Wheels can even save lives. We see this all the time. Just last month, I was delivering a meal route and found a recipient unable to answer the door due to a fall. I was able to get to the recipient and call for an ambulance. This is not an isolated incident, just one recent example from my experience of how vital daily check-ins are for Seniors in our community.
We are hoping you can lend a hand today with a donation to Meals on Wheels Rockland to insure 2024 will be a good year for our older neighbors.

MEET MIKE! GIVE HIM A LIKE!
Born and raised in Rockland County, �Mike is 95 years old and going strong. �He is one of the 800+ Rockland Seniors who receives Meals on Wheels each day. As a diabetic, it is especially important for Mike to have medically tailored meals that help maintain his health. Mike has given so much to the community… Ambulance Corps, Little League, foster parent to many and more. That a community based organization can help him now, is only fitting. Everyday, one of our dedicated volunteers considers themselves lucky to get the delivery route that Mike is on. There’s much to learn from him about life and our community. His motto is “Life Is Good”. Being there to ensure this, is a proud moment for Meals on Wheels Rockland.

Right now, nearly 10 million seniors in this country may not know where their next meal is coming from – millions more are suffering from isolation – and those numbers will grow exponentially as our population continues to age.
It’s a national problem, but you can help with a local solution, that has been trusted to serve your neighbors since 1974, Meals on Wheels Rockland.
