Grants and Donations from Foundations & Community Groups

Meals on Wheels is pleased to announce the following grants recently awarded to the agency:

2016 March for Meals Grant Award

Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland is pleased to be a recipient of a $1,750 grant for participating in the national Meals on Wheels America awareness campaign designed to celebrate the proven collaboration of local community organizations, businesses, all levels of government and compassionate individuals to ensure that our seniors are not forgotten. We thank Meals on Wheels America for the continued support.

Meals on Wheels America

Thank you to Meals on Wheels America for a generous $1,000 grant towards our Mutt's & Meow's Pet Food Pantry. Funds will be used for pet food and for pet food storage shelves and supplies for the pantry.

St. John's Episcopal Church

Meals on Wheels is very grateful to St. John's Episcopal Church of New City for the parish's donation of $2,700 as well as Blizzard Boxes and handmade caring cards for participants of our Home Delivered Meal program.

Alzheimer's Foundation of America

Meals on Wheels gratefully acknowledges a generous $5,000 Bi-Annual Grant for the program, "The Impact of Therapeutic Dance: Interactive Movement for Cognitively Impaired Adults." This program was funded by from the Alzheimer&039;s Foundation of America (AFA) and will benefit the participants of the Adult Day Care of Rockland.

Meals on Wheels America Subaru Share the Love Campaign

Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland is pleased to be a recipient of a $1,500 grant for participating in the Subaru Share the Love campaign. These funds, which will be directed to our Homebound Meal Delivery Program, will help end senior hunger and nourish the lives of seniors in our community.

Meals on Wheels America Driving the Movement Grant

Meals on Wheels is pleased to be a recipient of a $600 grant to help feed seniors in need. Driving the Movement funds were raised through last year's Subaru Share the Love Event. The agency thanks both Meals on Wheels America and Subaru for the continued support.

The Wallerstein Foundation for Geriatric Life Improvement

The Wallerstein Foundation for Geriatric Life Improvement has made a generous contribution of $650 to Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland. This very much appreciated donation will help provide services to participants of our programs. The agency appreciates the Wallerstein Foundation for Geriatric Life Improvement's continued support over the years.

Rockland Community Foundation

Meals on Wheels is pleased to announce the receipt of a $600 Food Pantry Grant from the Rockland Community Foundation. This grant will greatly help the agency to better serve our homebound program participants in advance of severe weather through our non-perishable food pantry program.

The United Way of Rockland County

Thank you to the Rockland Emergency Food & Shelter Program Board, administered through the United Way of Rockland County, for a $1,000 grant towards meals for emergency use during times of severe inclement weather.

Clarkstown Sunrise Rotary Club

Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland was very pleased to recently accept a $1,000 contribution from the Clarkstown Sunrise Rotary Club. The donation is from the proceeds of the Club's Annual Pancake Breakfast.

Walter H.D. Killough Trust

Thank you to the Trustees of the Walter H.D. Killough Trust for a $1,000 grant in support of Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland.

The Miles Hodsdon Vernon Foundation

The Miles Hodsdon Vernon Foundation has generously donated $5,000 to support Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland's Homebound Meal Delivery Program. This grant will enable individuals from the waiting list to receive subsidized meals.

Rotary Club of New City

Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland was very pleased to recently accept a $2,000 contribution from the New City Rotary. The donation is earmarked for the agency's Homebound Meal Delivery Waiting List Relief program.

Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan Auxillary of Knights of Pythias Donation

2) Thank you to the Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan Auxillary of Knights of Pythias for a $200 donation to the agency. Accepting the donation from members Michael Suisenick, Roger Siegel, Harvey Rosenstein and Erwin Grill is Don Hammond, Meals on Wheels President & CEO.

Kurz Family Foundation Recognized

On June 3rd, Meals on Wheels hosted a reception to thank Leonard Kurz for the ongoing generosity of the Kurz Family Foundation. To show appreciation the agency dedicated a plaque on its Henry Solomon Recognition Wall to the late Herb Kurz and the Kurz Family Foundation. Mr. Leonard Kurz spoke to those in attendance about what he learned from his father, Herb, who was a role model for community support and some of the Foundation's hopes for the future.
